7-1-2025 (JAKARTA) Police are investigating the death of a young boy, believed to be around five years old, whose body was discovered wrapped in a black sarong at a shophouse in South Tambun, Bekasi Regency, showing clear signs of physical abuse and trauma.
The grim discovery was made by a local car park attendant on Monday morning at approximately 7:00 AM, after witnessing a man carrying what appeared to be a suspicious bundle wrapped in black fabric into the shophouse area in Jatibaru.
Metropolitan Police spokesperson Chief Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi revealed that forensic examination by the Bekasi Regional Police Investigation Unit uncovered disturbing evidence of systematic abuse on the child’s body.
“The victim was found in a supine position, dressed in long trousers and a short-sleeved shirt,” Chief Commissioner Indradi told reporters on Tuesday. “Our initial investigation has revealed extensive injuries consistent with prolonged abuse.”
The post-mortem examination identified multiple trauma indicators, including what appeared to be cigarette burn marks on the child’s buttocks, cheeks, and legs. Additional injuries included facial abrasions, bruising around the left ear, multiple contusions across the body, and significant swelling to both the middle and rear portions of the head. Investigators also noted fluid discharge from the victim’s mouth.
The body has been transferred to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, for a comprehensive autopsy to determine the precise cause and time of death.
