11-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) A raging fire broke out on Tuesday evening in an industrial building located in Yishun, sending plumes of smoke into the sky. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to the incident after receiving an alert at 5.15 pm.
The fire originated from two units situated on the sixth floor of Block 61 Yishun Industrial Park A. By the time SCDF officers arrived at the scene, the flames had already engulfed the units, posing a significant challenge to the firefighting operation.
To combat the inferno, firefighters promptly deployed two water jets and two aerial water monitors. Additionally, a team of approximately 80 officers and 20 emergency vehicles were dispatched to the site, ready to tackle the blaze head-on.
The fire, fueled by furniture and alcohol products stored within the affected units, raged on for several hours. However, the relentless efforts of the SCDF personnel paid off, and the fire was successfully extinguished at 10 pm. Currently, damping down operations are underway to prevent any potential flare-ups.
Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. The SCDF, in an earlier Facebook post, urged residents and passersby to steer clear of the affected area for their own safety. This advisory was also disseminated to registered users of major telecommunication providers such as M1, StarHub, Singtel, and SGSecure mobile app users.
