22-6-2024 (MANILA) A Filipino influencer has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction with Singapore Airlines (SIA) after his luggage was allegedly damaged “beyond repair” during a recent flight to Melbourne, Australia.
Earlier this week, Mark Jasper Amorin shared his frustrations on Facebook, detailing his experience with SIA’s handling of the situation and what he perceived as inadequate compensation for his damaged luggage.
According to Amorin, upon arriving in Melbourne, he discovered that his luggage had sustained significant damage during the flight. Dismayed by the state of his belongings, he embarked on a journey to seek redress from SIA, a process that he claims cost him both time and money.
“They could have at least offered to pick up my luggage at the place I’m staying here in AU, instead of me wandering around for them,” Amorin wrote on Facebook, lamenting the need to travel back and forth to SIA’s service center, which incurred expenses for four separate Uber rides.
Amorin revealed that he spent eight days grappling with the matter, expressing disappointment over SIA’s alleged slow response and lack of clear resolution.
The Filipino influencer claimed that he was “passed around” to different “representatives” without receiving a satisfactory outcome. At one point, he was allegedly asked to wait a day or two but never received the promised follow-up call.
Describing SIA as a “prime” airline, Amorin expressed his expectation of better service, particularly in terms of efficient communication and timely resolution.
After prolonged efforts, SIA allegedly offered Amorin 200 AUD (approximately S$180) as compensation for the damaged luggage. However, Amorin deemed this amount inadequate, considering that he had already spent at least 60 AUD (approximately S$54) on Uber rides to and from SIA’s service center.
Amorin revealed that he had expected compensation ranging between 350 AUD (approximately S$315) and 400 AUD (approximately S$360), taking into account his transportation costs, time, and the stress endured throughout the ordeal.
