15-9-2023 (MANILA) Filipino fisherman Roland Abante, despite receiving two standing ovations from the judges, was eliminated from Season 18 of “America’s Got Talent.” However, there is still a chance for Abante to return to the competition as the 11th finalist through the wild card.
The fourth set of qualifiers who will proceed directly to the finals includes dance group Chibi Unity and Filipino-American magician Anna De Guzman.
During his recent performance, Abante received another standing ovation from the judges for his rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Judge Sofia Vergara expressed how impressed she was with Abante’s talent and mentioned that people from his country, known for karaoke, love him. Judge Simon Cowell also praised Abante’s performance, acknowledging the significance it holds for him. Cowell emphasized that Abante is singing his life on the stage and that America loves him.
Judge Howie Mandel described Abante’s performance as spectacular and believed it was worthy of being in the finals. Judge Heidi Klum shared that Abante’s performance was one of her favorites and expressed her desire to give him a golden buzzer to advance him directly to the finale.
In his initial audition, Abante wowed the judges with his rendition of “When a Man Loves a Woman,” earning another standing ovation.
Meanwhile, Anna De Guzman secured her spot in the finals after her captivating performance as a cardist, magician, and mentalist, with the judges assisting her. Judge Klum commended De Guzman and expressed the need for more female magicians, while Vergara predicted a promising future for her.

Reflecting on her journey, De Guzman shared her emotions on Instagram, stating that it was an emotional day for her and expressing her admiration for the talent of her fellow contestants. She concluded by acknowledging that America truly has talent everywhere.
Although Abante’s time on “America’s Got Talent” has come to an end, the wild card opportunity offers a glimmer of hope for his return to the competition. The journey continues for the remaining contestants as they strive to make their mark in the finals of this highly competitive season.
