21-8-2023 (SINGAPORE) Tragedy struck along Orchard Road early on Sunday morning as a 29-year-old man lost his life following a violent altercation.
The incident, which took place at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday at 100 Orchard Road – the location of Concorde Hotel and Shopping Mall – resulted in the arrest of fourteen individuals, aged between 22 and 32, on suspicion of rioting with weapons.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two men, aged 23 and 29, with multiple injuries. The older individual was unconscious and was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away. The younger man was conscious when he was hospitalized.

In addition to the initial arrests, two more men, aged 28 and 32, were apprehended at the scene.
Later in the morning, around 9:30 a.m., police arrested three men and one woman at a multi-storey car park along Fernvale Road in Sengkang. An hour later, an additional five men were detained at Woodlands Checkpoint.
At approximately 4:45 p.m. on the same day, a 27-year-old man was arrested while seeking medical treatment at a hospital. Subsequently, in the evening, a 24-year-old man was also apprehended at a hospital.
On Monday morning, a 30-year-old man surrendered himself to the police and was placed under arrest.
Weapons, including two pen knives and a bread knife, were believed to have been used during the altercation and were seized by law enforcement.
According to the Singapore Police Force, “All persons are believed to be known to one another, and the fight had broken out due to a dispute.”
Three men have been charged with rioting armed with a deadly weapon as of Monday. If convicted, they could face up to 10 years in prison and caning.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
