6-3-2025 (SEOUL) A devastating explosion ripped through a residential area in Pocheon’s Idong district yesterday morning, leaving a trail of destruction and multiple casualties in its wake.
At approximately 10:05 am, what authorities believe to be an errant shell crashed onto a roadway near Nangyudaego Bridge in Nogok-ri, obliterating seven structures including a local church. The violent impact sent debris flying and left the community in shock.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where they discovered seven injured residents, four of whom sustained serious injuries requiring urgent medical attention. The remaining three victims escaped with minor wounds.
Investigators are currently examining whether joint military exercises between South Korean and American forces, which were being conducted in the vicinity at the time, might be connected to the incident. One theory gaining traction suggests a potential weapons misfire from a military aircraft during training operations.
