9-10-2023 (TEL AVIV) The ongoing escalation of tensions and violence between Palestine and Israel has resulted in a devastating loss of life, with over 1,100 people reported dead since the conflict began on Saturday morning.
The latest data provided by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the health ministry in Gaza reveals that the death toll from Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel has surpassed 700. Additionally, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have claimed the lives of 413 individuals, including 78 children and 41 women.
The IDF further disclosed that 2,150 Israelis have sustained injuries during the attacks, while Gaza authorities reported that 2,300 individuals have received treatment at hospitals within the region.
Tragically, Israeli media, citing accounts from rescuers, has reported that more than 250 bodies were discovered at the scene of the Israeli Supernova festival, where the attack took place.
The escalation of violence began on October 7, when Hamas, the governing authority in Gaza, launched an unexpected assault on Israeli towns neighboring the Gaza Strip. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel was now “in a state of war” and initiated a massive wave of airstrikes targeting Gaza.
Palestinian media sources have also revealed that, as the conflict continues into Monday, 130 Israelis, including IDF officials, are being held captive in Gaza.
In a separate development, the IDF has announced the apprehension of senior Hamas member Abu Ghali by the Israeli Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 commando unit.
