116-10-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) An emergency landing involving a Royal Malaysian Airforce (RMAF) Beechcraft Super King Air B200T has resulted in the temporary closure of the runway at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, commonly referred to as Subang Airport.
Social media videos depict the aircraft skidding off the runway, apparently due to a malfunction where one of its landing gears failed to extend.
In response to the incident, Firefly Airlines informed its passengers:
“We kindly inform you that the Subang Airport runway is temporarily closed to facilitate safety inspections and investigations. All airline operations, including Firefly, are expected to resume at 5 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
Malaysia Airports also provided an update:
“We would like to inform you that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has issued a notice for the temporary closure of the Subang Airport runway from 1:15 pm to 4:15 pm. The runway is being closed to facilitate the removal procedure for the skidded aircraft. We are pleased to report that no one was injured during the incident. The terminal, however, remains unaffected and remains open.
