1-8-2023 (LONDON) Lizzy Jade Groombridge, standing tall at 6 feet 3 inches (190cm), proudly calls herself a “giant” online. However, she admits that navigating the world of love and relationships has been challenging, until she met her boyfriend James Hitchens, who stands at 5 feet 8 inches (172cm). Lizzy shares that when they go out together, they often attract curious glances from strangers, and many people inquire about their height difference. Despite struggling with her height during her formative years, Lizzy gained newfound confidence after posting videos on social media. “It was only when I built my own image on social media that I started to feel confident in myself and received positive attention because of my height,” she said.
People have made various assumptions about her dating life, but she refuses to let those assumptions affect her self-assurance.
“At school, I was always the tallest person, taller than all the boys in my class. By around 15 years old, I was already 6 feet (182cm) tall, which made me feel different from other girls and not as feminine as they were,” she recalled. Lizzy never thought she would date a shorter man, nor did she believe anyone would be interested in dating her. “Society expects men to always be taller than their female partners, and this affected my love life for a while because I felt embarrassed about my height. Men would feel quite emasculated and insecure (if the woman is taller), and they even made me feel like I shouldn’t wear high heels.”
But her boyfriend James is entirely unfazed by the height difference: “James sees the height difference, but he’s a very manly person and is happy to film videos with me.”
In James, Lizzy found true love and, most importantly, she found herself. “I love being authentic and encourage women to wear high heels and embrace themselves,” she affirmed.
