29-3-2024 (SAN FRANCSICO) Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI based in California announced on Thursday its plans to introduce an upgraded version of its chatbot Grok.
The forthcoming iteration, named Grok-1.5, is set to be released to select testers and current Grok users on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) in the near future, xAI stated.
The company highlighted significant enhancements in the new version, particularly in its capabilities for coding and mathematical tasks.
Founded as an alternative to Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Alphabet’s Google, xAI was launched by Musk last year with the aim of developing an AI focused on seeking maximum truth.
In December, xAI introduced Grok exclusively for Premium+ subscribers of X.
Earlier this month, Musk declared that xAI would make Grok open-source, shortly after filing a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging the organization had veered away from its original mission in favor of a profit-driven approach.
