19-6-2023 (BANGKOK) A series of earthquakes centred on the southern coastal area of Myanmar were felt in Bangkok and surrounding areas on Monday morning. The first earthquake, measuring 6.0 magnitude, occurred at a depth of 10 km at 8:40 am. The epicentre was approximately 289 km southwest of Thailand’s Phop Phra district of Tak province, according to the Thai Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation Division. There were two subsequent aftershocks near the southern coast of Myanmar, measuring 3.6 and 4.4 magnitudes, at 8:57 am and 10:46 am, respectively.

People in high-rise buildings in Nonthaburi and Bangkok felt the quakes, but there were no reports of damage or casualties. Social media was awash with reports of shaking buildings and people running for safety. In the Surawong area of Silom.
