10-11-2023 (BANGKOK) Law enforcement authorities in Thalang district of Phuket, the renowned resort island province, apprehended a key member of a drug network with a staggering haul of more than 200,000 methamphetamine pills.
The suspect, identified as Akbankharn Wongmanee, a 25-year-old native of Ubon Ratchathani, was arrested at a rented room in tambon Sri Sunthorn. The narcotics suppression police, in collaboration with local officers, carried out the operation that resulted in the seizure of 246,000 speed pills from Wongmanee’s residence. The arresting team provided details of the arrest on Friday.
Following the earlier arrest of Anon Sukchuang, 43, another member of the drug network on October 31, the police extended their investigation. During the initial operation, 46,400 speed pills were confiscated from Sukchuang, leading authorities to delve deeper into the network’s activities, ultimately leading to the apprehension of Akbankharn Wongmanee.
The arrested suspect was promptly taken to the Phuket provincial police station to undergo legal proceedings. The concerted efforts of law enforcement underscore the commitment to combating drug-related activities in the region and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to further unravel the dynamics of the drug network and take necessary actions to dismantle its operations.
