2-7-2024 (SINGAPORE) In a delightful fusion of cultures, renowned “Dog Whisperer” Cesar Millan recently found himself in Singapore, indulging in an unexpected passion – durians. The Mexican-American dog behaviorist, famous for his ability to communicate with canines, embarked on a fruit-filled adventure courtesy of local actor Collin Chee, the founder of the durian company Spikes of Love.
Taking to Instagram, Chee shared a glimpse into Millan’s durian-centric experience, where the 54-year-old was treated to a spread featuring a diverse array of the iconic Southeast Asian fruit. “Dog whisperer Cesar Millan whispered with durians, and he loves it,” Chee, 57, captioned his post, accompanied by a video documenting the extraordinary encounter.
In the clip, Chee revealed that this meeting marked the second time in two years that he had the privilege of introducing Millan to the wonders of the durian. The table was adorned with around eight varieties, ranging from the popular Musang King to lesser-known cultivars like Dong Lai and Kasap Merah. Former actress Cherie Lim also made an appearance, adding to the star-studded gathering.
Chee took the opportunity to educate Millan on the intricacies of the durian, explaining that the “butt” of each piece of flesh contained a treasure trove of vitamins and minerals. Millan, intrigued by this newfound knowledge, eagerly took a bite and was instantly captivated by the unique flavors and textures.
“This time the introduction was a lot more in-depth. I always have durian, I come to Singapore for durian, but I’ve never been told all these steps, history and knowledge,” Millan remarked in the video, expressing his appreciation for the educational experience.
As the tasting progressed, Millan found himself particularly drawn to one variety, which Chee described as the “wild” durian. Embracing his love for the untamed, Millan quipped, “It’s because my girls are wild ones,” referring to his canine companions with a playful wink.
According to Spikes of Love’s website, a custom durian bundle starts from $300 for five boxes, catering to groups of four to six people, making it an indulgent yet accessible treat for durian enthusiasts.
Millan’s affinity for Singapore is well-documented, with the dog expert having shared in a 2015 live show that the city-state is his “house outside the US.” “I’ve been here more often than any other country in the world,” he remarked at the time, highlighting the special connection he shares with the country and its rich tapestry of cultures.
