14-8-2023 (SEOUL) Renowned as Asia’s top 100 DJ and South Korea’s glamorous music sensation, DJ Soda, has once again fallen victim to sexual harassment. This incident took place during a music festival in Japan where multiple fans subjected her to inappropriate behavior, leaving her shaken and trembling with fear.
DJ Soda took to her Facebook account today to share her harrowing experience of being harassed by fans at a major music festival in Japan on the 13th of this month. She accompanied her post with several screenshots from videos captured by other fans during the distressing incident.
The visuals reveal DJ Soda, dressed provocatively in a white short skirt and a cropped tank top, being touched inappropriately by multiple unidentified individuals. The incident visibly rattled her, leading her to express her fear and shock in her post.
In her message, she wrote, “Hello everyone, I need to announce something very important that happened today. After I finished performing at the Music Circus Osaka in Japan, I felt extremely shocked and scared, and my hands were still trembling.”
This distressing nightmare began as DJ Soda interacted with fans at the front row through a fence before she approached the stage. “To have closer interaction with fans, I always get closer to them at the end of the performance. However, at that moment, not just one, but several individuals suddenly touched my chest, subjecting me to sexual harassment. Despite enduring this painful experience, DJ Soda resolved to overcome the ordeal and complete her performance for the audience members who had done nothing wrong.”
She continued, “I was surprised and terrified, but I have fans who support me. Many were even crying with excitement, so I tried to complete the performance calmly. Now, I’m back at the hotel, but I’m still scared. In my 10 years as a DJ, I have never experienced anything like this.”
Expressing a deep sense of embarrassment and humiliation, she expressed disbelief that such an incident could occur. She also shared her thoughts on the difficulties of connecting with fans on stage, especially after this incident. She concluded with, “Goodnight.”
This is not the first time DJ Soda has encountered harassment. In April of this year, she was harassed by an unknown man during Thailand’s Songkran festival. She has also previously disclosed instances of language-based harassment by a prominent French DJ during her work in London.
However, facing harassment from fans during her professional engagements is something new for DJ Soda, as she noted, “This is the first time in 10 years.”
