9-3-2024 (HONG KONG) Shock and horror gripped Hong Kong as two babies’ bodies were discovered in glass bottles in the living room of a vacant apartment. The distressing find led to the immediate arrest of a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, who are believed to be the parents of the infants.
The bottles, standing at a height of 30cm, contained the lifeless bodies of the babies. Chief Inspector Au Yeung Tak of the New Territories North division revealed to reporters on Saturday (Mar 9) that there were no apparent signs of injury on the bodies. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the babies’ age and establish whether they were born deceased.
Sources familiar with the case, as reported by the South China Morning Post, suggest that the babies were boys, and their size indicates the possibility of stillbirth. The tragic discovery took place on Friday morning at an apartment located in Mei Hang Building, situated in the Tuen Mun district.
The landlord, upon the departure of the tenants, dispatched a cleaner to the premises, unaware of the chilling contents that awaited discovery. Reports from Hong Kong broadcaster RTHK state that the bodies were found “soaked in liquid and kept in bottles.”
The two suspects have been apprehended on charges of illegal disposal of human remains. Au Yeung confirmed that the couple lived in the apartment and are believed to be romantically involved.
