19-10-2023 (NEW YORK) A court employee in New York found herself in police custody on Wednesday for her attempted approach towards former U.S. President Donald Trump during his appearance at a Manhattan courtroom. Trump was present for his ongoing civil fraud trial when the incident occurred. Swift action by court officers prevented the woman from reaching Trump, ensuring the safety of everyone involved in the proceedings. The Office of Court Administration issued a statement confirming the incident.
The identity of the woman remains undisclosed, but she now faces charges of contempt of court in the second degree for her disruption of the court proceeding. Consequently, she has been placed on administrative leave and barred from entering any state court facilities.
Throughout the week, Trump has been attending the trial, now in its third week. He also made appearances during the initial three days of the trial when it began earlier this month.
New York Attorney General Letitia James has accused Trump and his company of inflating the value of their assets to secure more favorable business deals and enhance Trump’s net worth. Trump and his legal team have staunchly denied these allegations.
In anticipation of the trial, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled before its commencement in early October that Trump and his company were liable for fraud, based on the provision of false financial statements over nearly a decade.
The trial is expected to continue until mid-December, with further developments anticipated in the weeks to come.
