18-12-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A recently purchased dream car turned into a nightmare for a couple in Petaling Jaya, as their brand-new SUV succumbed to rising floodwaters less than an hour after delivery.
Azhazul Azri, taking to Facebook, shared the unfortunate incident involving a client of his brother, who had just taken possession of the vehicle on Saturday evening (Dec 16). According to mStar’s report on Sunday (Dec 17), the car was delivered at 5 pm, only to be engulfed by floodwaters around 6 pm.
The deluge struck several areas in Puchong on Saturday, with a heavy downpour leading to ankle-deep floodwaters in parts of a local shopping centre. Video clips circulating on social media captured shoppers wading through the inundated mall, and some cars in the open car park were also affected.
Responding to the situation, the Subang Jaya City Council issued a danger warning for the mall at 6.46 pm, urging road users to plan alternative routes to avoid the area.
Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Azhazul highlighted that the couple had wisely opted for special perils insurance coverage for their new car. This decision is expected to offer financial protection in the aftermath of the unforeseen flooding incident.
The incident garnered sympathy on social media, with users expressing their concern and some offering prayers for a smooth resolution to the couple’s car predicament.
