29-9-2024 (SINGAPORE) A construction worker lost his life on Sunday morning following a workplace accident at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), one of Singapore’s premier tourist destinations. The incident has cast a pall over the ongoing expansion works at the popular resort.
Authorities were alerted to the tragedy at approximately 8am, responding swiftly to reports of a work-related incident at 8 Sentosa Gateway. Despite prompt action, the situation proved fatal. A police spokesperson stated, “A 44-year-old man was found unconscious and subsequently pronounced dead by a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic at the scene.”
The accident occurred in an area formerly occupied by the Maritime Experiential Museum, which ceased operations in 2020 to facilitate the expansion of the S.E.A. Aquarium. It’s worth noting that this section of the resort is not accessible to the public, limiting potential risk to visitors.
RWS management confirmed they were informed of the incident by the worksite contractor early Sunday. A spokesperson for the resort expressed their commitment to cooperating fully with the authorities, stating, “The contractor and RWS are supporting the authorities in their investigation.”
