13-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Police authorities are set to file a report with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) following an incident where a helicopter was spotted landing in a field in Shah Alam, allegedly to drop off a child at school.
According to Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim, it will be the responsibility of the CAAM to investigate whether the helicopter operator had a valid permit for landing in the residential area on April 17. “We have not received any report regarding this incident,” he stated.
A concerned resident shared a one-minute video with FMT, capturing the helicopter taking off from a field near the Shah Alam residential area. Additionally, a photo displayed a child walking away from the helicopter while the pilot remained by the aircraft. The resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, mentioned that the child later entered a nearby school through the back gate.
The resident further revealed that this was not the first time the helicopter had landed in the area, although the previous incident was not witnessed by residents. “On May 5, I raised the matter with the school via Facebook, not only to report the helicopter issue but also to express concerns about parents parking their cars along the roads in our neighborhood,” the resident explained.
Since notifying the school about the issue, the resident claimed that the helicopter has not been sighted again.
