23-7-2023 (SHANGHAI) A remarkable “Spider-Girl” in mainland China has captivated social media with her extraordinary talent of watching television while adhered to the ceiling. The jaw-dropping feat was caught on living room surveillance video, where the eight-year-old girl effortlessly climbs up the corner of two walls from the sofa and relaxes on the ceiling, all while casually crossing her arms and enjoying her TV show.
The astonishing video, shared on July 9 by the girl’s mother, who goes by the name @Ruxiangsuisu on Douyin (China’s version of TikTok), took the online community by storm. Apparently, no one in the family was aware of the girl’s superhero-like abilities until they reviewed the surveillance footage.
Amazed netizens from across China offered theories to explain her gravity-defying stunt. Some suggested that her lighter weight and the grip provided by tiled walls contributed to her prowess. The girl’s mother, residing in Pingtan Island off Fujian province, revealed that the coastal city’s humid climate might make her daughter “stickier,” explaining their choice of a tiled wall to prevent mold.
One observant viewer humorously pointed out that the TV remote control was in the young Spider-Girl’s hand, playfully implying that she had climbed up to maintain control of the TV channel. Others cheekily recommended getting her a Spider-Man outfit if she had a spider bite.
Encouragement and admiration poured in from online observers, with suggestions to enroll her in sport climbing classes due to her exceptional abilities. Some poignantly referred to her gift as something unique to young children.
This isn’t the first instance of Chinese children showcasing their extraordinary talents. In 2021, a seven-year-old girl from Shanxi province earned a Guinness World Record for performing an impressive 75 handsprings in just one minute. Her father shared that she had been passionately practicing backflips since the age of four.
