26-6-2023 (HANOI) Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang held a meeting with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on Sunday in Beijing, affirming their commitment to enhancing strategic cooperation and deepening practical collaboration.
Qin commended the visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong in October last year, stating that the meeting between the two leaders had ushered in a new era for the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam.
During the meeting, Qin emphasized that China considers Vietnam a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and attaches great importance to the visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to China.
“We believe that this visit will provide new impetus for implementing high-level consensus and deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Vietnam,” Qin stated.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is currently on an official visit to China from June 25 to 28, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The prime minister will also attend the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2023, also known as the Summer Davos Forum, scheduled to be held in Tianjin Municipality in northern China.
Highlighting the close geographical proximity and shared values between China and Vietnam, Qin emphasized the need for stronger strategic communication, accelerated alignment of development strategies, and expanded cooperation to foster further development of bilateral relations.
In response, Son stated that Vietnam considers its relationship with China a top priority and reaffirmed its firm adherence to the one-China policy. He expressed unwavering support for the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Son noted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations and highlighted that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to China is of particular significance.
He expressed his hopes that through this visit, both countries can effectively implement the consensus reached by the general secretaries of the two parties, strengthen strategic communication, and deepen practical cooperation to achieve greater progress in bilateral relations.
