7-1-2025 (BANGKOK) Serious concerns have mounted over the whereabouts of Chinese television actor Wang Xing, professionally known as Xingxing, who reportedly vanished near the Thailand-Myanmar border after arriving in Bangkok for what he believed was a legitimate filming project.
The disappearance has triggered a coordinated response from Chinese diplomatic missions across the region, with authorities in Myanmar, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai launching investigations into the matter.
According to the actor’s girlfriend, who goes by the name Jiajia, Xingxing departed Shanghai for Bangkok on Friday after securing what appeared to be a promising acting role through a WeChat-based casting call. Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, he was collected by individuals claiming to represent the production team.
The situation took an alarming turn when location tracking data revealed the vehicle carrying Xingxing had deviated significantly from its supposed destination. Contact with the actor was ultimately lost near the Thailand-Myanmar frontier around midday Friday, Beijing time.
“We are treating this case with utmost priority,” stated a representative from the Chinese consulate in Chiang Mai, confirming they received an urgent alert from Xingxing’s family regarding his disappearance in Mae Sot, a Thai district bordering Myanmar.
The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has also mobilised resources to investigate the incident, whilst maintaining close communication with relevant authorities. Meanwhile, diplomatic staff in Bangkok are coordinating with local law enforcement to trace the actor’s movements since his arrival.
The disappearance has resonated strongly within China’s entertainment community, with numerous actors amplifying Jiajia’s social media appeal for information. Xingxing, known for his performances in popular television series including “Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact” and “The Tale of Rose,” had established himself as a recognised figure in Chinese television.
