27-7-2023 (KUNMING) Starting from Tuesday (July 25), passengers traveling via the China-Laos Railway can enjoy a significant reduction in travel time by over an hour, thanks to expedited customs clearance procedures for cross-border journeys.
Previously, the 1,035-km-long journey from Kunming to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, took approximately 10 and a half hours, including the time spent on customs procedures.
With the implementation of an upgraded train operation diagram, the travel time has now been shortened by 64 minutes, making the trip more efficient and time-saving for passengers on the international train service.
The China-Laos Railway, which commenced cross-border passenger services in April this year, has witnessed impressive passenger numbers. As of Saturday, which marked its 100th day of operation, the railway had already served 41,735 passengers from 49 countries and regions.
Notably, inbound passengers accounted for 12.2 per cent more than outbound passengers, reaching a total of 22,066, with 54 per cent of them being tourists.
