15-12-2023 (MANILA) Law enforcement agencies from China and the Philippines cooperated in repatriating 180 Chinese nationals engaged in offshore gambling activities in the Philippines.
According to a statement released by the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines via their official WeChat account, this represents the latest progress in the joint efforts between China and the Philippines to combat offshore gambling.
The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines stated that on October 27, the Philippines’ Anti-Organized Crime Commission and the Department of Justice mobilized multiple law enforcement agencies for a joint operation targeting an offshore gambling company in Pasay City. As a result, a group of offshore gambling employees was apprehended. In response to the Philippines’ request, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines promptly assisted in verifying the identities of the Chinese citizens involved and facilitated their repatriation procedures.
The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines affirmed its unwavering support for law enforcement cooperation between the two countries and its active response to the criminal issues arising from the offshore gambling industry, with the aim of ensuring the healthy development of economic, social, and cultural exchanges between China and the Philippines.
