6-8-2024 (TELUK INTAN) In a grim turn of events, firefighters have uncovered the charred remains of a driver following a car crash on Jalan Teluk Intan in Kuala Bikam, near Teluk Intan. The incident, which occurred yesterday evening, has left local authorities working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, disclosed that the department received an alert about the incident at 10:35 pm. Due to the remote location of the crash site, situated approximately 25 kilometres from the nearest fire station, emergency responders arrived at the scene nearly an hour after the initial call.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a harrowing sight. A Honda City had veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch, with the vehicle almost entirely engulfed in flames. Amidst the wreckage, rescuers made the grim discovery of a severely burnt body, presumed to be that of the driver.
“The identity of the victim has yet to be established,” Sabarodzi stated in an official release today. The intense heat of the fire had left little recognisable, complicating immediate identification efforts.
The firefighting team worked diligently to extinguish the blaze, concluding their operations at 12:16 am. Following the successful retrieval of the body from the charred vehicle, it was handed over to local police authorities for further investigation and potential identification.
