The 31-year-old star, known for keeping his personal life under wraps, revealed that he proposed to his childhood friend Brooke Sansone during a trip to New York City. The couple, who began dating just a year ago, celebrated their engagement with a romantic meal at the Brooklyn eatery Lucali, complete with pizza and diet cokes. Charlie posted photos from the special day, showcasing Brooke’s dazzling diamond ring.
In a heartfelt message accompanying the photos, Charlie expressed his joy and love for Brooke, writing, “I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes. I am the happiest, best version of myself, and it is all because of you, Brookie. I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever.”
Charlie had previously stated that he would keep any engagement news private, explaining his desire for privacy during a conversation with DJ Howard Stern last October. He mentioned that he would go to great lengths to ensure the media didn’t find out about it because he wanted to avoid the overwhelming attention that such news would inevitably bring.
The singer also discussed the special bond he shares with Brooke, emphasizing the comfort of being with someone who has been a part of his life for so long. He stated, “As my life gets more turbulent, and I travel everywhere, it’s nice to have someone close to you that you’ve known for a very long time.”

Interestingly, he recently revealed that a song idea came to him “in the middle of the act,” prompting him to pause and record a voice note. This voice note eventually evolved into the track “Marks on My Neck,” which was featured on his 2022 album, “Charlie.” Reflecting on the creative process, he said, “I wrote the song in the middle of the act; maybe I should have focused on the act a little bit more, but the melody just kind of popped into my head, and I actually had stopped and recorded a little quick voice note and then had to get back into the act. But that’s where that melody came from.”
