8-10-2023 (PHNOM PENH) The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit confirmed in a statement on Sunday that a Cambodian student was among the casualties in the recent conflict between Israeli and Hamas forces. The hostilities erupted on Saturday, leading to tragic consequences.
The statement expressed the deep sorrow of the Royal Government upon learning that one Cambodian student, out of approximately 450 Cambodian citizens in Israel, lost their life after sustaining injuries during the fighting between Israeli and Hamas forces on October 7.
“The Royal Government would like to express our deepest condolences for the loss of our citizen and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family,” the statement conveyed.
In a voice message, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on all Cambodian citizens in the region to exercise extra vigilance during this tumultuous period.
The Cambodian foreign ministry also issued a statement, strongly condemning all forms of violence and terrorism in the ongoing conflict.
