26-5-2023 (Phnom Penh) A 71-year-old crocodile farm owner in Cambodia met a gruesome end after accidentally falling into a crocodile enclosure and being viciously attacked by dozens of crocodiles.
According to reports from Cambodian media, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Friday. The victim, identified as Mr. Nan, was not only the owner of the crocodile farm but also the chairman of the Crocodile Farming Association in Siem Reap province.
Police stated that the victim entered the farm alone and noticed a female crocodile laying eggs. He attempted to distract the crocodile with a rope but accidentally fell into the crocodile enclosure. Within moments, dozens of crocodiles swarmed around him, violently tearing and biting at his body. The victim cried out for help, and a neighbor who came to investigate managed to rescue him.
Authorities reported that the victim suffered severe injuries to his thighs, abdomen, neck, and other parts of his body from the crocodile attack. Despite efforts to save him, the injuries proved fatal.
The police revealed that the crocodile enclosure where the victim fell contained 90 crocodiles, approximately 10 to 12 years old. The victim had been operating the crocodile farm for 38 years, with a total of 21 crocodile enclosures housing over 3,500 crocodiles.
