3-1-2025 (HANOI) The bodies of a British woman and her South African fiancé were discovered in their holiday accommodation in the historic Vietnamese city of Hội An, local authorities have confirmed.
Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and Arno Els Quinton, 36, were found deceased in separate rooms of their tourist villa in the central Quang Nam province on Boxing Day. The grim discovery was made by villa staff accompanied by police officers at approximately 11:18 in the morning.
According to local law enforcement, Ms Otteson, who worked as a social media marketing manager with previous experience in Dubai, was found lying on her bed on the first floor. Her fiancé, Mr Quinton, a former barista, was discovered in a similar position in another room of the property.
Initial forensic investigations have revealed no signs of physical trauma or violence on either body, and authorities have confirmed there were no indications of forced entry to the premises. Several empty alcohol containers were noted at the scene by investigating officers.
The couple had been residing at the tourist villa since 4 July 2023, having registered for long-term temporary accommodation at the property.
