26-3-2024 (BANGKOK) In a shocking incident reminiscent of a movie scene, a four-year-old boy named Nui in northeastern Thailand accidentally hurled a pair of scissors at his older sister last Saturday (March 23), causing a serious injury.
According to reports from Thai publication Thaiger, the blade of the scissors pierced the skull of the 10-year-old girl, known as Face. The incident occurred while the siblings were playing outside their home.
Eyewitness accounts, including one from a 16-year-old named Yui, revealed that Nui became upset after Face cautioned her to stay away from him while he was wielding the scissors. In a supposed re-enactment of a movie fight scene, Nui impulsively flung the scissors towards his sister.
Upon hearing Face’s cries, their grandfather rushed outside but was unable to dislodge the scissors embedded in her skull, as reported by Thai news website Sanook.
Face was promptly taken to Satuek Hospital, from where she was transferred to Buriram Hospital due to the lack of necessary surgical equipment at the former facility.
Medical examinations revealed that the scissors had penetrated approximately an inch (2.5cm) into Face’s skull, narrowly missing a nerve but avoiding any critical areas of the brain.
Fortunately, surgeons successfully removed the object, and Face spent two days recovering in the hospital before being discharged to continue her recuperation at home.
