1-8-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) German technology group Robert Bosch has opened a new test centre for chips and sensors in Malaysia, according to a company announcement on Tuesday. The centre, which cost €65m ($71.62m) to build, will be used for final testing of semiconductors, with plans to invest a further €285m by the middle of the next decade, creating up to 400 jobs by the mid-2030s.
Currently, Bosch conducts most of its semiconductor testing from its factories in the German cities of Reutlingen, Suzhou in China, and Hungary. The addition of the new test centre in Penang, Malaysia, will enable the company to expand its semiconductor testing capabilities and meet the growing demand for chips and sensors.
Bosch is receiving funding from Malaysia for the test centre, which will help boost the country’s technology industry and create job opportunities for its people. The investment in the new facility underscores Bosch’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific region and its strategy to strengthen its presence in emerging markets.
