4-11-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A member of the Johor Crown Prince’s security detail has been fined RM1,000 after pleading guilty to assaulting a disabled e-hailing driver at a luxury hotel in the capital earlier this year.
Lance Corporal Muhammad Taufik Ismail admitted to causing harm to 47-year-old Ong Ing Keong during an incident that occurred in the lobby of the St. Regis Hotel on May 28. The assault took place at approximately 11:40 am, according to court documents.
Appearing before the Magistrate’s Court in a black collared T-shirt and beige trousers, the bodyguard acknowledged understanding the charges before entering his guilty plea. The offence, prosecuted under Section 323 of the Penal Code, could have resulted in a maximum sentence of one year’s imprisonment and a fine of up to RM2,000.
