14-8-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Police have reported the discovery of a body in Sungai Klang this evening, which they believe to be that of local singing sensation Nidza Afham Mokhtar. The grim find comes after an intense search following the 23-year-old artist’s mysterious disappearance yesterday evening.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan disclosed to Buletin TV3 that the body was spotted by a local angler at approximately 7pm. “Upon further examination, we believe it’s Nidza’s body,” Hussein stated, adding that the discovery site was roughly one kilometre downstream from the bridge where the singer’s mobile phone and wallet had been found earlier by his family.
The body has been transferred to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination, with authorities reaching out to the victim’s family for formal identification.
Corroborating the police report, the Selangor fire and rescue department’s assistant operations director, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, provided additional details. He noted that the deceased was clad in dark attire bearing the number 56.
The sequence of events leading to this tragic discovery began when Nidza left his residence at 7:45pm on the previous day. Klang Selatan police chief Cha Hoong Fong reported that the singer had last been seen departing from a house in Bandar Puteri, utilising a rideshare service to reach Sultan Suleiman Stadium for a jog.
Alarm bells rang when Nidza’s girlfriend failed to establish contact with him around 9pm. Utilising the Find My iOS app, she traced his last known location to the bridge. Subsequently, Nidza’s family members recovered his phone and wallet at the site, though his bank card was conspicuously absent.
Nidza Afham Mokhtar had risen to prominence through his captivating song covers on social media platforms. His YouTube channel, in particular, had garnered significant attention, with his rendition of “Rindu Setengah Mati” amassing nearly seven million views. The young artist’s career had been on an upward trajectory, especially following the release of his hit single “Ternyata Bukan Aku”.
