8-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A boater came to the rescue of a stranded monkey found swimming in Kenyir Lake. A viral video circulating on social media captured the daring rescue effort, as the boater patiently coaxed the confused primate onto their vessel.
The footage shows the monkey, initially at ease in the water, rebuffing the boater’s friendly attempts to lend a helping hand. The determined boater tried multiple approaches, and eventually, the monkey, having swum some distance away, turned back towards the boat.
Seizing the opportunity, the quick-thinking boater grabbed hold of the monkey’s tail and refused to let go, successfully hauling the waterlogged primate aboard. The relieved monkey took a seat at the stern, seemingly enjoying the breeze as the boat sped towards the shore.
Upon reaching land, the monkey wasted no time scampering off into a nearby rock pile, disappearing back into the forest from whence it came.
Since being shared on Facebook just three days ago, the video has already garnered a staggering 1.67 million views, over 2 million likes, and more than 2,000 comments from captivated viewers.
The unexpected sight of a monkey in the lake initially puzzled onlookers, but the boater’s quick thinking and determination to help the stranded animal have earned widespread praise. Many have applauded the boater’s compassion and resourcefulness in ensuring the monkey’s safe return to its natural habitat.
