7-8-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Prime Minister Datuk Anwar Ibrahim revealed that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk contacted him with a keen interest in holding a meeting. According to Anwar, Musk expressed his desire to speak directly with the Prime Minister, acknowledging that he had followed Anwar’s life journey closely.
During the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani Ceramah event on Sunday (Aug 6), Anwar shared the details of his conversation with Musk. The Pakatan Harapan chairman said, “Alhamdulillah, someone followed my life story. When he called, he said he wanted to bring Tesla, Starlink, and SpaceX.”
Anwar emphasized that the proposed collaboration was aimed at benefiting the people, as he personally did not require a Tesla or Starlink Internet, considering that there is already internet access available at Seri Perdana.
Taking a subtle swipe at Bersatu’s Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Anwar asserted that Azmin had only managed to meet with Musk’s manager, and no concrete investment resulted from that encounter. Anwar questioned whether Elon Musk had visited Azmin as part of their previous interactions, reiterating that no investment had materialized as a result.
Earlier on July 14, Anwar had revealed that he had engaged in a call with Musk to discuss potential investments from Tesla in Malaysia, including the introduction of the automaker’s electric vehicles in the country. Additionally, the conversation touched upon SpaceX’s satellite communications service and its potential role in Malaysia.
