22-1-2025 (BANGKOK) A delivery rider lost his life in a harrowing road rage incident on Tuesday afternoon when a motorist deliberately rammed his motorcycle on Sukhumvit Road in the bustling Watthana district of Bangkok, authorities report.
The victim, 49-year-old Ritthisak Prakuptanont, was pronounced dead at the scene after his body struck a CCTV pole following the intentional collision. The suspect, identified as Seree Srettheenamwong, 31, was apprehended immediately and faces murder charges.
The fatal confrontation began near the Asoke-Sukhumvit intersection when Srettheenamwong’s Toyota Altis allegedly collided with Prakuptanont’s motorcycle. According to witness statements, the driver fled the initial accident scene, prompting the delivery rider to pursue him to the vicinity of Siam 2 health massage establishment.
In an attempt to resolve the matter, Prakuptanont positioned his motorcycle in front of the car and requested the driver to exit his vehicle to discuss the damage. When Srettheenamwong refused, the situation escalated after Prakuptanont reportedly struck the car’s window several times.
Deputy Investigation Chief at Lumpini Police Station, Lieutenant Jarin Rattanasuwanchai, detailed how the confrontation turned violent: “The suspect exited his vehicle and assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground before stomping on him. When Mr Prakuptanont attempted to flee on his motorcycle, the suspect pursued and deliberately crashed into him.”
The victim’s wife, Saijai Tamboon, 40, arrived at the scene with her daughter to find her husband’s body. In an emotional statement, she revealed that Prakuptanont was the sole breadwinner for their family of six, including four children aged between 8 and 18 years.
“We demand justice,” a tearful Tamboon told reporters. “My husband was just trying to make an honest living for our family.”
Srettheenamwong, reportedly the son of a local business owner, has been charged with murder and reckless driving causing death. He remains in custody at Lumpini Police Station whilst authorities proceed with legal action.
