2-10-2023 (JAKARTA) The Bali Regional Police have announced that they will deploy 4,000 personnel to ensure the security of the upcoming Archipelagic and Island State (AIS) Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, scheduled for October 11.
Inspector General Police Ida Bagus Kade Putra Narendra, the Chief of the Bali Regional Police, stated that these personnel will serve as backup to the security forces from the National Police (Polri) Headquarters and the National Armed Forces (TNI).
“We have the police officers under the control of the Headquarters. We are here as a backup force alongside the Military Commander of Udayana,” he confirmed during a statement in Denpasar.
The Bali Police have taken measures to coordinate with the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, addressing various aspects of the forum’s preparations. They have also prepared specialized equipment for enhancing security during international meetings. This equipment has been dispatched to Bali from various locations, originating from both Polri and TNI sources.
The current security situation in Bali is deemed conducive, with no major security concerns, as mentioned by Narendra.
He elaborated that the security plan for the AIS Forum will closely mirror that of the G20 Summit scheduled for November 2022, incorporating a three-ring security scheme.
“Recently, a meeting was convened to discuss the delegation’s security. There will be ring 1, ring 2, and ring 3, similar to the security setup for the G20 Summit,” he stated.
In addition to these preparations for security personnel, the Bali Police have also conducted preliminary inspections of the forum’s venue.
“The security arrangements at the venue are in place and ready,” he confirmed.
The AIS Forum, set to take place in Bali on October 11, 2023, will see the participation of seven heads of state and government from member countries.
