15-2-2025 (BALI) The Bali Provincial Police have taken over the investigation of a violent altercation between foreign tourists and security personnel at Finns Beach Club in Canggu, North Kuta, which occurred on Tuesday evening, 11 February 2025.
The case, initially reported to the North Kuta Police, has been escalated to provincial level after cross-reports were filed by both parties involved. Bali Police spokesperson Chief Commissioner Ariasandy confirmed that both the foreign tourist and security staff members have been questioned regarding the incident.
“Multiple witness statements have been collected from both Finns Beach Club security personnel and associates of the foreign tourists involved,” Ariasandy told reporters on Friday. “We are currently reviewing CCTV footage to corroborate witness accounts and determine the sequence of events.”
According to initial reports from Badung Police spokesperson First Inspector I Putu Sukarma, the confrontation began inside the beach club when security staff witnessed a foreign male allegedly choking another patron. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute involving a female guest.
“Security personnel attempted to defuse the situation by escorting the aggressive patron from the premises,” Sukarma explained. “However, the situation escalated in the car park when the individual became combative.”
Witnesses reported that four foreign men subsequently arrived at the scene and allegedly assaulted two security guards. The group fled northward towards Berawa Beach Road after the attack. Four security staff members sustained injuries during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities yet to establish which party initiated the violence. “We are meticulously examining all available evidence, including CCTV footage from surrounding areas, to piece together an accurate account of the events,” Ariasandy stated.
