25-12-2024 (AKTAU)Â An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger aircraft carrying 72 passengers crashed in the vicinity of Aktau, a Kazakh port city along the Caspian Sea, according to Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry.
The commercial airliner, which departed from Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, was originally destined for Grozny, Chechnya, before encountering severe weather conditions. Dense fog at the intended destination forced flight crews to alter their course, leading to the fatal diversion.
Eyewitnesses report the aircraft executed multiple circular patterns above Aktau Airport before the incident occurred.
