7-8-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A brazen attempt at highway robbery in the early hours of Wednesday morning has prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, as Subang Jaya police launch a manhunt for four suspects involved in the alarming incident.
Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan, the Subang Jaya district police chief, confirmed in a statement that authorities received a report from the victim at 1:37 am, detailing an attempted robbery that occurred outside a petrol station on the Kesas Expressway. The incident, which took place near Shah Alam, Selangor, in the direction of USJ Subang Jaya, has sent shockwaves through the community and raised concerns about highway safety.
According to the police report, four unidentified men attempted to rob the victim while he was driving. In a disturbing turn of events, one of the suspects allegedly used a wooden stick to smash the window of the victim’s car. Fortunately, the quick-thinking driver managed to escape by accelerating away from the scene.
The entire incident was captured on the victim’s dashboard camera, with the footage subsequently uploaded to the internet. The video has since gone viral, sparking heated discussions about public safety and the brazenness of criminal activities on Malaysian highways.
Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan stated that the police have opened an investigation file under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery and Section 427 for wilful damage. “We are actively tracking the whereabouts of the four suspects involved in this case,” he assured the public.
