30-7-2023 (MOSCOW) The Russian Defense Ministry has reported that Ukraine made a foiled attempt to launch a terrorist attack on Moscow’s facilities using drones on July 30. According to the ministry’s statement, one Ukrainian drone was successfully destroyed by air defense measures over the territory of the Odintsovo district in the Moscow Region. Furthermore, two other drones were effectively suppressed through electronic warfare and consequently crashed within the Moscow City complex of non-residential buildings.
Earlier that day, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin had already disclosed that the city was under attack by Ukrainian drones. The incident resulted in minor damage to the facades of two office buildings within the Moscow City area, though fortunately, there were no casualties reported at that time.
However, emergency services later informed TASS that one person was injured due to a blast that occurred in a Moscow City building following the drone attack. The injured individual was identified as a security guard at the Oko-2 building. The blast caused significant damage, shattering glazing from the first to the fourth floor.
In response to the attempted attack, the capital’s Vnukovo airport was temporarily closed for arrivals and departures. The Russian Defense Ministry’s swift response in neutralizing the hostile drones prevented any further escalation of the situation.
