20-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) A 61-year-old man was apprehended on Wednesday (Dec 20) following an altercation that resulted in three individuals sustaining injuries at Pasir Ris West Plaza. The injuries were confirmed to be a result of slashing.
The police responded to a distress call at Block 734 Pasir Ris Street 72 around 4.50 pm, where they discovered a 53-year-old man and two women, aged 53 and 55, all conscious but injured. The 61-year-old assailant was found semi-conscious and was subsequently arrested on charges of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, as stated by the police. Initial investigations indicate that the individuals involved are acquainted but not on friendly terms.
Footage circulating on messaging platforms captured the aftermath of the incident, depicting police presence outside Royal Regent, a store retailing mobile phones and clothing items. At least six uniformed police officers were present. Four shops were cordoned off, and the public was cautioned against taking photographs. Blood stains were visible outside the store, accompanied by scattered items like shoes and socks.
Shortly after, the police expanded the cordon, instructing members of the media to vacate the area.
