2-5-2024 (SINGAPORE) 2 Malaysian nationals, aged 28 and 32, are set to appear in court on Thursday (May 2), facing charges related to their alleged involvement in an armed gang robbery that saw more than S$4.34 million (US$3.19 million) in cash, cryptocurrency, and other valuables stolen.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) announced in a news release that the men will be charged with the offence of armed gang robbery.
The incident took place at a residence along King Albert Park around 2 am on April 18, prompting the police’s attention. According to SPF, a group of over four individuals robbed 11 victims, aged between 25 and 45, of various valuables, including cash in local and foreign currencies, cryptocurrency, and luxury brand watches, amounting to an estimated total value of S$4.34 million.

Through ground inquiries, officers managed to ascertain the identities of the suspects involved. It was discovered that the group had fled to Malaysia shortly after the robbery was reported to the police.
Following collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police, the two suspects were apprehended in Malaysia on April 27 and April 28, based on warrants of arrest issued by the State Courts in Singapore. They were subsequently handed over to the SPF on April 30.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with SPF continuing to work closely with the Royal Malaysia Police to locate the remaining suspects involved in the armed robbery.
The offence of armed gang robbery carries severe penalties, including a potential jail term of up to 20 years and up to 24 strokes of the cane.
