11-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Airbnb, a globally recognized platform for securing budget-friendly accommodations while exploring foreign destinations, has been a go-to choice for travellers worldwide. Nevertheless, an unexpected mishap recently unfolded for one unsuspecting woman who mistakenly found herself checking into a facility intended for the disabled in Johor Bahru (JB). The root cause? Neglecting to peruse the property’s reviews, leading to an unexpected and unconventional lodging experience.
This bizarre episode came to light when a TikTok user, @crybabytubby, shared a video documenting her remarkably brief stay at the Johore Cheshire Home, mistakenly assuming it was a suitable Airbnb rental. The footage chronicled her bewildering adventure, offering a unique glimpse into what can happen when travel plans go awry.
In the video, @crybabytubby presented a series of images, each capturing various aspects of her peculiar accommodation choice. The first photograph depicted a lengthy pathway leading to the premises, a far cry from the usual welcoming entrance one anticipates at an Airbnb property. This visual anomaly immediately raised suspicions in the mind of the intrepid traveller.
Her doubts deepened as she ventured further into the establishment, revealing a corridor that, though clean, appeared rather sparsely furnished. Two chairs, strategically positioned outside the corridor, were the only evidence of any seating arrangements. The perplexed guest continued to showcase her room, which contained two beds and an air conditioning unit. However, her discovery did not end there.
To her chagrin, @crybabytubby soon discovered that Johore Cheshire Home imposed a strict 10 pm curfew, adding that any violation would necessitate contacting security to unlock the main gate. Despite this inconvenience, the guest did manage to find one silver lining – a remarkably spacious bathroom, designed to be wheelchair-friendly.
Despite these unexpected discoveries, @crybabytubby’s stay at Johore Cheshire Home was short-lived, lasting a mere hour. It became abundantly clear that this was not the experience she had envisioned when booking her accommodation. As of the time of writing, the TikTok clip has garnered 40,000 views, attracting an array of comments from netizens who were equally astounded by this peculiar mix-up.
Interestingly, amidst the astonishment expressed by most, a handful of individuals surprisingly noted that the room appeared rather decent, at least by their personal standards.
