Minister for Community, Culture and Youth Edwin Tong expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Taylor Swift’s exclusive concert in Singapore, outside of Japan, exemplifies the high-calibre events we aim to offer Singaporeans and tourists alike.” He also mentioned upcoming events such as the Singapore Festival of Football, where top football teams will participate, and the inaugural FIBA Intercontinental Cup to be held in Singapore and Asia in September. Additionally, Coldplay is set to perform for six nights in early 2024.
On her Instagram account, Swift revealed an extensive list of international tour dates, beginning with Japan in February, followed by Australia and Singapore before heading to Europe. Latin American dates in August and November were also previously announced, following her performances in the United States.
Referring to Swift as a brilliant songwriter and consummate performer, Minister Tong expressed delight in hosting her in Singapore, noting her captivating stage presence. Swift’s The Eras Tour, her first concert series since the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, commenced in the United States in March, featuring performances exclusively at large-capacity National Football League stadiums.
It has been an exhilarating week for music enthusiasts in Singapore. Within a few hours, British band Coldplay sold over 200,000 tickets for an unprecedented six shows at the National Stadium. The frenzy was palpable, with fans queuing at SingPost outlets across the island as early as midnight on Tuesday, and more than a million virtual queue numbers issued on Ticketmaster’s online platform.
