18-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) A Malaysian couple has defied the odds and reignited their love, tying the knot once again, a remarkable 21 years after their divorce. Ms. Hawazalina Mohd Othman, 46, and Mr. Mohd Ezwani Ahmad Nazeri, 45, initially married for a brief period of two years before parting ways in June 2002.
According to reports from Malay daily Harian Metro, both individuals went on to remarry and start families separately. However, these subsequent unions did not stand the test of time. Throughout these years, Ms. Hawazalina and Mr. Ezwani had no contact with each other, leading them to live separate lives.
Their paths unexpectedly crossed again when Mr. Ezwani left a heartfelt condolence message on Ms. Hawazalina’s Facebook page on February 22, just two days after the passing of her mother. The news of the demise reached him through a mutual friend.
Initially, Ms. Hawazalina struggled to recognize Mr. Ezwani, as they hadn’t laid eyes on each other for such a long period of time, and the years had visibly transformed his appearance. However, her younger sister pointed out his identity, and Ms. Hawazalina confirmed the connection to Harian Metro.
“He expressed a desire to be friends on Facebook, which led to conversations about our lives and catching up on lost time,” Ms. Hawazalina shared. “Eventually, he proposed that we give our relationship another chance, and I agreed.”
In April, the couple, each with three children from their previous marriages, remarried in a ceremony filled with hope and optimism. Ms. Hawazalina, who teaches crocheting and sells her handicraft on social media, believes that this time their marriage will endure.
“Despite our divorce many years ago due to personal reasons, I must admit that throughout our initial marriage, he was a good and responsible husband,” she revealed. “I firmly believe that he is still the same man he was 21 years ago.”
Fortunately, their decision to remarry has been met with acceptance from their immediate families, including their respective children. Ms. Hawazalina expressed her heartfelt desire for their renewed union to last a lifetime.
“I hope and pray that our love will stand the test of time and remain strong until the end of our lives.”
