18-6-2023 (BRUSSELS) A man from Belgium, with 78,000 followers on TikTok, recently organized a fake funeral to test who among his family and friends really cared about him. The man, identified as Berten, arranged the fake funeral with the help of his family and children to see who would attend and who would not.
The event took place in Belgium, where Berten was “declared dead” and his child posted a tribute on social media, expressing their grief and how much they missed their father. The tribute read, “Rest in peace, Dad! I will never stop thinking about you,” and “Why is life so unfair? You were about to become a grandfather, and you had a lifetime ahead of you…We love you! We will never forget you.”
At the funeral, dozens of friends and relatives attended, waiting for the ceremony to begin. Suddenly, a helicopter appeared in the sky and landed near the funeral site, leaving everyone confused. The “deceased,” Berten, then jumped out of the helicopter, shocking everyone and revealing that it was all a prank.

Some attendees were happy to see Berten alive and gave him a warm embrace, but others were angry and upset at the prank, feeling disrespected. Berten explained that he had organized the elaborate prank because he felt neglected by some of his family and friends, saying, “I was never invited to anything. We grew apart, and I felt like I wasn’t being respected.” He hoped that by faking his death, he could teach his loved ones a valuable lesson about life.
Fake funerals and “death hoaxes” have become increasingly popular in recent years, often used as a way to test people’s loyalty, love, and how much they care about us. However, experts warn that such pranks can be harmful and emotionally traumatic for those involved, causing unnecessary stress, anxiety, and pain.
In conclusion, while Berten’s fake funeral may have been an attempt to teach his loved ones a lesson, it ultimately caused more harm than good. Pranks like these can be emotionally damaging and should be avoided. It is important to show our loved ones how much we care for them through kind actions and words, rather than through elaborate stunts.
