13-6-2023 (FLORIDA) Tragic news has emerged as reports reveal that former 100 metres world champion Tori Bowie passed away due to complications during childbirth, according to U.S. media sources.
Bowie, the highly accomplished American athlete who secured gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics and was crowned world champion a year later, tragically lost her life on May 3 at the age of 32.
An autopsy report from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida, obtained by USA TODAY Sports, stated that Bowie was approximately eight months pregnant and was in labor when she experienced complications that ultimately led to her untimely demise.
The report mentioned potential complications such as respiratory distress and eclampsia, a rare condition that can cause seizures. The medical examiner has classified Bowie’s passing as a natural death.
Following the devastating news, Bowie’s agent, Kimberly Holland, spoke to CBS News, expressing hope that the revelation of the true cause of death would put an end to hurtful speculation surrounding the circumstances.
“Unfortunately, so many people, including the media, are making speculations that she did something to herself, which is very hurtful,” said Holland. “So hopefully, now knowing the truth, there will be many apologies.”
