7-6-2023 (OTTAWA) A nature enthusiast was left shocked when she claims her wildlife camera captured an eerie scene of what appears to be “two witches engaging in a carcass-eating ritual” just a stone’s throw away from her residence.
Corinea Stanhope stumbled upon a dead deer in her garden while riding her horse and decided to set up a trail camera to observe nocturnal wildlife activity.
To her disbelief, the 36-year-old and her 76-year-old grandfather, Bob, were astounded when they reviewed the footage the following day. The images allegedly showed two partially unclothed women seemingly feasting on the deceased animal.
The eerie pictures reveal two figures with long, tangled black hair, clad in minimal clothing that barely covers their buttocks. With their faces obscured by their hair, the figures appear to crouch down, extending long fingers towards the carcass, and even taking a bite by lifting one of the hooves.

Corinea, who keeps three horses on the same property just a short distance from the peculiar scene, felt a sense of terror. After sharing the haunting images online, she received an overwhelming response from frightened social media users, urging her to report the incident to the authorities and speculating that the figures were witches, malevolent spirits, or even supernatural creatures known as wendigos.
Hailing from Powell River, Canada, Corinea shared her account: “There was a dead deer, so my grandpa and I set up a trail camera to capture any wildlife. We did capture a bobcat, which was pretty cool. The next day, my grandpa told me he had recorded naked people on the camera, and I initially dismissed it as nonsense until he showed me.”
“I have no idea what was going on there. It really gave us a fright. It’s not something you witness every day. They arrived ten minutes after sunset and appeared disheveled. They seemed to be wearing wigs. One of them appeared to have blonde hair underneath.”

“The photos don’t provide a clear view, but one of the figures brought the hoof right up to her mouth. I couldn’t discern if she was kissing, smelling, or even consuming it. Touching a decaying carcass like that makes me feel nauseous, considering the amount of bacteria present.”
“Perhaps they were paying their respects, but the fact that they were naked really creeped me out. It’s just a two-minute walk from our house, and I was concerned about them causing trouble for my horses at night.”
Corinea shared the images on social media, and locals were quick to speculate, suggesting witches, evil spirits, demons, or a local cult conducting a ritual. Corinea, who works as a nurse, mentioned, “Many people mentioned skinwalkers and wendigos. There have been rumors in town about a cult collecting animal bones, but I’m unsure if it’s true. Some individuals have mentioned it since I posted the photos. A friend even claimed to have encountered two people in the woods carrying dead squirrels.”
Although tempted to involve the police, Corinea’s grandfather argued that the individuals were not technically engaged in any illegal activities. She hopes that it was merely a prank played by passersby who noticed the camera.
Corinea concluded, “I hope that they spotted the trail camera during the day and decided to have a bit of fun with us, or perhaps they were under the influence of drugs. I considered contacting the police, but my grandpa advised against it since no laws were being broken. Nevertheless, he was quite mortified.”
Despite Corinea’s attempt to rationalize the unsettling images as a possible prank, concerned social media users warned her to remain cautious.
