31-5-2023 (SINGAPORE) When you hear the name Mark Lee, you may immediately think of his loud and brash ah beng roles on screen. However, behind the scenes, the veteran actor couldn’t be more different, as a recent interview reveals his profound affection for his wife and family.
On Monday (May 29), local publication Shin Min Daily News released an interview with Mark, commemorating his 24th wedding anniversary with wife Catherine Ng. During the interview, Mark shared the secrets to maintaining a lasting marriage.
“Managing a marriage is more challenging than running a business,” Mark expressed. “A successful marriage requires a great deal of attention.”
The actor-comedian revealed that he willingly allows his wife to check his phone whenever she wants, emphasizing the importance of building trust. Catherine added, “He knew I lacked a sense of security, so he never set a password on his mobile phone and would let me see it anytime.”
Mark explained, “I can give her diamonds and more, but if our marriage has underlying issues, what purpose would they serve? What I truly desire is a lifetime together with her. When we eventually turn to ash, I want our ashes to rest together.”
He also shared his perspective on extramarital affairs, suggesting that men may be tempted by the allure of experiencing the feeling of first love again through such relationships. However, he swiftly reprimanded such behavior, stating, “Why be greedy for something new? No relationship between a man and a woman can always be perfect. Disagreements will arise from time to time, but a wife is a wife!”
During the interview, which took place while the couple was celebrating their anniversary in South Korea, Catherine revealed that Mark “loves his family very much.” She mentioned how he diligently sends their children to school every day and helps with household chores whenever he has free time.
“Knowing that he is not getting any younger, he is striving to be more active in his career to pave the way for our children’s future,” Catherine shared.
